[he sends the location to donnie just in case he needs the reminder, then makes sure everything is properly laid out for another person to interact with instead of just him.
optimus has a good variety of seeds that will grow into flowers and other flora as well as things that will grow fruits and vegetation that can be ingested by organics. he also has a fair amount of equipment to put it together, though not so much that the room will be completely filled up. this will still be a huge project to get up and running properly, but isn't that the beauty of it? he hopes so.
whenever donnie shows up, optimus gives him a bright smile and a wave. he's another one on the tall side of tall, but he's not quite at megatron's size and considerably slimmer besides.]
Hello! It's good to meet you in person. I like your bandana!
[It occurs to him that he's not been here since before it had become collateral in Anemone's destroy-the-Megatrons campaign. Donnie flies there and then in, arms hugged to his chest.
[he does let out a laugh at that, genuine rather than carefully modulated for Best Possible Approach-- he's never had to consider his own name pluralised before.]
Yes! Optimus, that's me. I apologise for neglecting to mention it before, I was a little preoccupied with the plants. This isn't something I wanted to leaf alone.
[tragically, this reaction does not make him think that maybe he shouldn't do that in the future.
he does, however, not try to continue it. optimus looks to the seed packets and equipment sorted on the table.]
Yes, I felt variety was the way forward. That way even if anyone is uninterested in the science, they could still come in and enjoy the fruit or vegetables.
[he ducks his head forward and smiles easily.]
I do not wish to take away from any plans you may have developed with Megatron. Please, do treat this as an equal partnership. You needn't worry about consulting with me if you have a vision for how to put anything together.
Donnie flies over to land at the edge of the table, eagerly inspecting the selection.]
It was all pretty loosely planned, so don't worry about that. We just need to figure out configurations. Organization. Ohhh my gosh are these fruits and vegetables going to be huge when they grow, that'll be amazing to see!
I've completed all the necessary paperwork, so the rest of is is just up to us.
[optimus takes a datapad out of his subspace, one that's in a tablet functionality and places a stylus on the table next to it - not quite donnie sized, but also not one so large the poor turtle would be winded carrying it around.
on the datapad is a basic layout of the room, as well as a couple rectangles to represent the existing tables.]
I thought we could start it off like this, capitalising on the space. This will mean we can add much more and potentially larger plant samples should we happen upon a planet we can gather some from. Megatron had the idea of a trip for this exact reason, and it's not an idea we should discount.
[Donnie scampers over to have a look at the tablet, nodding.]
I was telling Megatron that if we built upwards, then we'd have more space to use. The beauty of hydroponics, not being limited to a single axis to grow things. Might be trickier with fruits and vegetables- we'd have to figure out what might grow on vines and give them priority space for the bottom with room to branch out.
[He hesitates at the mention of going to another planet for plant samples. That isn't necessarily a new idea, but after Iskwiyac, after the whole volcanic mission and after talking with Mikey, Donnie's suddenly so much more concerned about how safe anywhere is.]
[he turns away for a moment to look around at the walls, to see how easy it would be to install more shelving or move things around as necessary. looks like it won't be a problem, but that's not something optimus will attempt to do himself. that's a slightly higher level of DIY capability than what optimus can do. no problem, though, there's plenty around!
donnie's sudden change in tone makes him look back, expression slightly pinched with concern. it's not unlike how he missteps with the terrans, but at least it's clear.]
But not for a while. Let's focus on what we have first.
[Donnie picks up the stylus to start adding in some rough locations for what he'd had in mind, dragging some narrow rectangles across the table spaces in a row. He adds three- no, maybe four, they can possibly fit four- circles on each of them to represent the "towers".]
Yeah... Probably better not to get ahead of ourselves.
[He sets the stylus down so he can tap at his bracer computer, transferring a file to the tablet of some of the sample schematics he'd made.]
These are just ideas based on stuff they have back home- they're like racks with spaces to hold pots and containers, so they're suspended, and there's enough space for you to see between them, and to promote growth. Hm. Maybe have different sections, then they can be moved if we figure some need more space than others. Transplanting won't be the difficult part at least.
[it's easy for him to use his large size to lean over and see what donnie is doing without completely swamping him.]
These should be easy to come by as well. [he says, and heroically doesn't point out the transplanting double meaning.] I don't believe any of what I purchased is likely to get extremely big, but there's something to be said for how things flourish when they are truly cared for. I think you are correct on the customization of the room, and it will make for a handy rotation when there are visitors looking for different varieties of plants.
[Donnie's mood picks up easily from there at least, and he nods as Optimus offers his input.]
I'd still advise keeping them separate by plant-types so they don't get mixed up, and a lot of vegetables have similar care needs anyway, so grouping will make things easier in the long run.
can call this a finisher? happy 2 go on if you want to tho

He does smile a little at Optimus's greeting.]
Hi...! And thanks. You're...one of the Opti..mi?

Uh-huh. Anyway, wow- looks like you really got some things together for this.

[optimus smiles down at donnie, genuine but slightly complicated.]
We will ensure it shines.
We can end here, sure! :]
[Donnie laughs, grinning up at Optimus then.]
This is going to be great!
