There was something that hit him with that. It wasn't like this is what Donnie had been saying this entire time, but there was something about hearing it for the third time, the sheer firmness and determination Donnie said it, for Donnie of all people wording it that way. Mikey felt his eyes watering and he shifted, a breath later wrapping himself around Donnie.
It's a familiar weight around him, a comforting one for all that he treasures his personal space. Donnie rests a hand over his brother's arm, feeling that ever-present knot in his chest loosen just a little more.
He breathes out a faint laugh.
"But of course I am," he says, his smile just a tiny bit askew.
"Thank you," he says, hugging his brother a little bit closer.
"Do you want to go to Mac's with me for cookies?" He asks, his voice slightly muffled. He was craving them now, and nothing he made was worth salvaging. At least not by his own standards, not when it came to his own cooking.
Mikey smiles and just.... Stays like that a little longer.
After a bit he finally peels himself away and grabs up his drink again, looking over the kitchen. It makes him flinch a little internally, but he could deal with the remaining mess later.
He turns back to his brother and smiles. Not as bright as it could be, but 100% genuine.
They'd work on it. They're Hamatos, after all. Somehow...they'd get through all this.
Donnie finishes up his coffee as he pushes to his feet. He can tell the difference in Mikey's smile and while it isn't at his usual levels, it's still a considerable improvement. And after everything from earlier, Donnie will gladly take it.
He slings an arm around Mikey's shoulders, tossing the can into the trash.

"You're an amazing brother," he says softly.
