[ It's been a few days sine the Lava Experience and Cal's had a decent enough time to recover himself up. Now that he's slept for a million years and has fed and caffeinated himself he has a moment to worry about the team that went with him. Especially their youngest number. That fight went south quicker then he thought it could. Granted they all made it out, but still... he wants to check up. ]
Hi Donnie! This is Cal. Wanted to check up and see how you were doing after that slaver kark the other day. We all made it out of that volcano a little worse for the wear. Worse for the ear in my case I guess!
Oh man, I should have been the one checking on you-
[He quickly deletes the following sentence regarding how many holes he'd seen the poor man suffer, that's probably nothing either of them need to remember.]
but I take it as a good sign that we're talking now.
....
I was going to be worried but if you're capable of making such terrible puns then I guess you're fine.
I get the urge to instantly wanna take apart something but my light saber's kind of important so maybe just a look?
Red is bad because, well it's complicated to explain but there's a part of the saber that sort of alive in a way. It's a crystal at the center, it powers the blade. You get red by hurting it. It bleeds.
Purple though? Totally fine. Might have been a little hard to tell because, you know, volcano lighting, but that's the color of mine.
I'm working on setting up a little workshop for myself so I can tinker with and upgrade my gear, swing by anytime I'll show what goes into one. I'm pretty much always taking it apart myself to adjust it or tune things up.
Alive how is definitely the question! No one really knows. They're alive in a way that's completely different to anything that you or I know of. They're... unfathomable.
[Mikey's arms are loose at first in surprise before he closes them around Donnie and squeezes him tight, tucking his face into Donnie's shoulder with a small, muffled noise of his own]
[For once, he doesn't want to say anything. Just being able to hold onto Donnie and know he is here and safe and holding onto him right back is such a comfort, such a relief, that he doesn't want to let go ever. When he is being hugged, it doesn't matter that he was younger all of a sudden or that the others weren't the brothers he was used to or that Donnie has been doing stuff on his own that makes Mikey's stomach do flips, all that matters is here and right now and knowing that they are connected in every way that matters]
[In every way that made him let out a quiet sigh dragged out from somewhere deep inside him, feeling truly at peace for one of the first times since he'd arrived in this weird place]
[There aren't any specific details that should have to matter. Donnie's always known for certain that there's no safer place than being embraced by his family. It doesn't fix everything, but it helps pull together the important parts, and that helps with the fixing sometimes.
Feeling Mikey relax has an almost profound effect. Okay, maybe just a little longer.
Eventually he does loosen his hold, pulling back just a little, not without a pat on the other turtle's harder shell.]
You good, buddy?
[Kind of funny to be asking when Mikey had been offering to comfort him, but big brothers should check on the little ones.]
One, what'd they do and two, please try to avoid any serious damage to the ship because the stupid bubble bracelets they gave us might react if the air pressure is suddenly unstable.
[There's a distant dull clunk, and Anemone mutters something just out of range of the microphone before she responds again.]
One: Everything.
Two: If I can't get them both in the same spot than the ship miiiiight take some damage, but I think it'll be fine. But it won't be super bad, I promise.
Three: Of course!
[There's another long pause as Anemone continues her work.]
I didn't call to worry you, by the way. I just wanted to let you know that I was putting our bombs through a... stress test. Science and stuff. I'll let you know how they do.
Worry? Oh no um, okay maybe a little? This is kind of out of the blue.
Not that I am objecting to tests- but I think if we do make anything that needs to be as effective as we are wanting it to be, then we should probably not be testing it on a ship that we are on. This is not out of any doubt that we will succeed.
...I wonder if they'd let us take one of the shuttles down to some planet for some off-site testing. Somewhere preferably remote. Then we can really go all out!
-but in the meantime, cool, guess it's as good an excuse to double-check the customization I've done to the output on these things as any.
Um. If things do not work out then come back to my lab, okay?
I was going to go to the training hall but I can hang out here for you instead. I will never pass up a chance to info dump about lightsaber construction.
omg really??? I hardly know anyone else who uses a staff I just wanted to see you do cool stuff with a lightsaber but this'll be really cool too
[Is it safe to text and fly? Probably not but at least the halls are huge and relatively clear. Donnie grins a bit at the music that spills out into the hallway. Not really his taste but he does like it pretty loud too. He lands and looks around.]
[ Luckily there's someone around who's more apt to pay attention. BD is ever alert and his proximity sensors pick up someone loitering outside the door so he hops of Cal's workbench to investigate. He activates the door's auto open and beeps loudly at the turtle. Is it a greeting? A demand of what he's doing? Who knows! Because Cal's back is turned and focusing on replying to Donnie's latest text with a... ]
It can be both! My lightsaber has a saber staff mode.
