I want to give some wireless monitoring equipment to the Agrii kids so that they can keep on top of ship security without having to rely on the AI that they don't have any control over. And without having to rely on the people that are going all culty, I guess.

Stark thinks it's a stupid idea, but he's in.

Sounds like a fun way to make the adults even more paranoid, I'm in.

What exactly did you have in mind for this sort of equipment?

Some stuff I picked up on the station. And for the record, I'm looking to help decrease paranoia, and the kids are the only ones willing to work with us right now.

The kids are also seeming intent in making Te Mi another faction head, not something they are on board with from what I've come to understand.

Wait, seriously? Why?

There's already a split between the adults. Te Mi says it's been that way for some time but ever since the AI started talking, it's exacerbated the situation. We're basically looking at a very conservative party headed by Ga Re and one that votes action under Mu Ly.

Yeah, I got... something like that. But why are the kids trying to make this Te Mi guy lead a faction when they don't want to?

Te Mi's a kid like them. All the young ones seem to think it's time for a new voice that will make the others listen. They already look up to Te Mi, they've already been doing things because Te Mi had suggested it was important to keep contact with us.

They do say the best leaders are the ones who don't want to be leaders. Personally, I've never been fully convinced, but I do kinda see the logic.

You been talking to them a lot?

Te Mi just wants things to be the way they were. I can't blame him, really. Adults like complicating things.

...kind of, yeah. I talked with Te Mi over the comms before we even left for the Noth. We've been hanging out a little since then, he likes learning things.

"The way things were" can be good or bad. What do the other kids want?

The Agrii used to be mostly in agreement with Ny Ak, but I guess they started questioning his decisions over recent times. He's been responsible for our well-being, and they've accused him of caring more for us than the Agrii themselves.

[Donnie sighs.]

They're scared by the infighting. They want something new. They want to be heard and I guess the only way they figure they will is by also having their own representative.

Okay.

You wanna ask them what they think about this idea? Tell them-- I dunno, do they have any electronics know-how at all?

I don't know how involved they've been with anything on the technical side, but they pick up things pretty fast.

What all are you expecting this equipment to do?

[cactusy]

Allow them to monitor their environment themselves, like I said. We could stick them around sensitive and strategic areas.

Okay, so are we giving all the kids this sort of thing or just like, the older ones? A headcount would be good, not that mass production is going to be difficult.

Uh-- I'm saying kids, but they're, like, teenagers, right? Let's ask your buddy what they think.

As I anticipated, Te Mi does not really understand the need for being able to monitor things when they have the "He Rows" to do it for them. They learn from watching us.

He did have an alternate proposal, which while isn't quite along the lines of security monitoring, will still be ultimately beneficial to the Agrii being more independent in the long-run. Instructional videos.

I think it's a really bad idea for them not to be at least a little bit self-sufficient, especially if some of them are shutting us out--

[But if Donnie couldn't sell them on the idea, she knows she doesn't have any hope of convincing them herself. So. Idea Number One is a bust. Time to move on to this new Idea Number Two.]
